We are warned every year in late spring and summer: be careful, remember about protection against ticks, especially when you go on vacation to parks and out of town. But how often do people dismiss these reminders as if from an annoying fly? Often - more than 450 thousand people affected by tick bites come to the hospital every year.
Let's remember the safety rules. Going to the forest or to the park, you need:
- Wear light clothing. It is easier to notice a tick on it than on a dark one.
- Choose a jacket or jacket with cuffs on an elastic band. They will protect your hands.
- Wear a T-shirt or T-shirt under the jacket and tuck it into trousers.
- Trousers should be tucked into socks or shoes. Yes, ugly. But it’s safe.
- Repellent clothes in places where the tick can crawl onto the skin. Remember that such funds usually do not last long - about 3-4 hours. Take the repellent with you: if the rest is delayed, you can re-process the clothes.
- Wear a hat. It’s difficult to look for ticks in your hair, and processing a bite on your head is even more difficult.
- Do not go to bed or sit on grass. If you plan to spend the night in the forest - before spending the night, make sure that you are not bitten by a tick. For parking, choose a place where there is no grass and shrubs. The ideal option is a pine forest or a sandy area.
After returning home, make sure that the protection is effective. Let someone from your friends or relatives carefully examine you.
If the tick still bites you, you have to make it unhook. The classic way with sunflower oil is in most cases completely useless - the tick does not come out in ten minutes or an hour. In addition, they will not take him after this procedure, i.e. you won’t be able to check if the encephalitis tick has bitten you or not. A more effective way is to gently rotate the tick until it comes out of the wound. You can’t pull and pull - otherwise you will simply tear your torso off your head. If you are not sure that you can do everything right - and without experience it is almost impossible to make a mistake - it’s better to go to the hospital right away. There the bloodsucker will be carefully removed and sent for examination.
If you still managed to pull out the tick, remember one more simple rule: you must definitely go to the hospital. This rule is too often neglected, preferring to play with the fate of the lottery - lucky or not lucky.
