Biography
The future footballer was born on the first day of August 1988 in the small Serbian town of аabac. The key moment in the fate of little Nemanja was the fact that his father was a coach of the local football academy Vrelo and saw a football player in his son. Matic Jr. began to study at a sports school under the strict guidance of his father from the age of five.
Two years later, his father took Nemanja to the Academy of the Serbian football club Radnichki to watch. He spent three years in the team, hard-working and constantly progressing, he attracted the attention of scouts of the famous "Red Star". Since 2000, he moved to the Academy of the Serbian Grand, where he studied for four years. The next stage in the life of Matic was “Partizan”.
Career
Matic signed the first professional contract in his life with the football club "Kolubara". He first entered the field as a professional player at the age of 16, in the first season he played 14 matches and scored one goal. Starting next season, Nemanja Matic became a key player in the team and appeared on the field in almost every match. In 2007, he joined the Slovak club Kosice, in which two years later he won the first trophy in his career - together with the team he won the Slovak Cup in 2009.
With professional development, Matic began to attract the attention of European grandees. In 2009, the English grand Chelsea FC signed a contract with a promising footballer for four years. A lot of competition and a high level of the team did not allow to fully play for the main team. Having played just three matches in the debut season, Matic went to the Dutch club “Vitesse” on loan. The season definitely paid off: Matic “ran back” almost every match for the club from the Netherlands, and at the end of the lease was sold to the Portuguese “Benfica”. There he continued to gain experience and became one of the main players in the team. In Benfica, Matic won the Portuguese League Cup in 2012.
In 2014, a re-purchase of Chelsea took place, and Matic again became an “aristocrat”, but thanks to the experience gained in “Vitesse” and “Benfica”, he showed a decent level almost from the first games and became the main player in the English club. Over four seasons, he played over 150 matches and hit the opponent’s goal seven times.
In the summer of 2017, Matic signed a contract with another famous English grand of FC Manchester United, where he continues to this day. Nemanja plays in the position of a defensive midfielder - in fact, the athlete is the link of the whole team and contributes to almost every match.
