It may be necessary to transport a bicycle in the subway for a variety of reasons: perhaps you want to ride in a remote park, or maybe the bicycle just broke. It also happens that a person is tired to ride home on a bicycle back, although he got to the right place on it. The rules for transporting bicycles in the subway are quite complicated, and not all cyclists are happy with them.
Rules for transporting bicycles in the subway
There is a document that regulates the transportation of bicycles and other things in the subway - "Metro Rules". These rules are almost identical in all cities of Russia in which there is a subway.
Directly about the transportation of bicycles there is usually not a word said. It is not said that cycling is permitted, but there is no direct ban on this either. It is for this reason that some cyclists enter the subway with a bicycle, and no one interferes with them. Others are being stopped. The fact is that the "Rules" says that it is impossible to transport cargo whose size in height and two bases in total exceeds 220 cm, and it is also forbidden to transport objects that can injure or stain other passengers. A bicycle can theoretically stain other passengers, this is one of the reasons for prohibiting its transportation. He may also injure someone on the escalator, provided that you do not hold him.
In addition to this, there is a postage chart "On the procedure for transporting bicycles in the subway", written in 2008, which says that it is forbidden to transport a bicycle in the subway. According to this document, the bike can be transported only in unassembled form, packing it in a case. In 2002, a previous version of this postage was created, it indicated that it is possible to transport a bicycle with one of the wheels removed. Not all cyclists are aware of the tightening of these requirements.
