From the biography of Vladimir Maslachenko
The future famous sports commentator was born on March 5, 1936 in the village of Vasilyevka, in the Dnipropetrovsk region. During the war years, the Maslachenko family evacuated to the North Caucasus. Vladimir made friends with sports in his school years. He chased the ball in the yard team, stood on goal, was a striker. In addition to football, Maslachenko was fond of volleyball, basketball, ping-pong, athletics.
In 1951, Vladimir was admitted to the Stroitel football team. Then he moved to the Spartak team of the city of Krivoy Rog. Maslachenko took part in republican level tournaments more than once and was even recognized as the best goalkeeper.
Two years later, Vladimir received an invitation to play in the Dnipropetrovsk team Metallurg. Around the same years, he studied for three years at the medical institute.
In the team, Maslachenko invariably held the position of goalkeeper. He was the best domestic goalkeeper for several years - from the late 50s to the mid 60s.
In 1956, Vladimir Nikitovich was invited to the main team of the Soviet Union. On his account - eight official matches and more than twenty friendlies. He participated in the 1958 World Cup, in the 1960 European Cup.
In the early 60s, Maslachenko moved to the capital “Spartak”, where he played until 1969. He was elected captain of this team. On his account - more than three hundred matches in the championships of the country.
At the same time, Vladimir Nikitovich raised his level of education: in 1970, he graduated from the Institute of Physical Culture and Sports.
In 1969, Vladimir became an Honored Master of Sports of the USSR.
