If you are faced with the threat of reprisal, you should not panic; instead, you can contact the law enforcement authorities. However, before doing this, it is necessary to determine whether there is a sufficient criminal component here.
Instruction manual
1
If you are threatened, you can write a statement to the police and instruct law enforcement officials to deal with the problem. However, the main problem is that they practically do not deal with such appeals with the police, despite the fact that the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation contains article 119 “Threat of murder or serious harm”.
2
For law enforcement to really tackle your problem, the threat must be real. If an unknown person calls you and says that he intends to kill you, the police most likely will not take this situation seriously, however, according to the law, they must conduct an audit on this fact. It is a completely different matter if you are threatened by a person who was previously tried for murder, or if on the street you are faced with an unknown person who has begun to threaten you with a weapon.
3
The threat may come from others. For example, you can learn from your friends or neighbors that your mutual friend has purchased a gun and intends to settle scores with you. Such a threat is perceived realistically, so the police will have to conduct an audit on this fact. It is easiest to prove to the police that you are being threatened if you receive a letter of the appropriate content. Remember that the hardest thing to prove is verbal threats.
4
In order to hold a suspect accountable under the relevant article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, you must provide the police with physical evidence (notes with threats, etc.). The presence of witnesses will also play into your hands, and the more of them, the better. If there is a dictaphone record confirming the threats, be sure to present it to the investigation. However, it can only serve as a pretext to be believed in relation to the fact of the existence of threats, while in court it will not be real evidence.
