As a child, German was engaged in pentathlon, grew up a calm, reliable and well-mannered child.
From 1983 to 1988 German studied at the Military Engineering Institute of the Red Banner Institute, then served in Kamchatka. In 1995, he received the qualification of an economist after retraining at the Higher School of Economics.
Career
German Klimenko began his career as a programmer at a bank, as his mother's contacts later admitted to finding work. In the banking sector, Herman worked from 1993 to 2008, holding various positions. It is also known that during these years he actively sold shares of the MMM pyramid, opening several points for their resale.
In 2013, he became president of the E-Commerce Development Association, combining online stores.
In 2014, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed Klimenko to take the post of adviser on Internet development. Appointed to the post in 2016.
Career in the IT segment
In 1998, he launched the List.ru site catalog, which was acquired by Mail.ru in 2000. In 2003, Klimenko launched the personal diary service, LI.ru, which in 2005 was merged with the Rax.ru site, Becoming a Liveinernet Blogging Site. The maximum popularity of the resource was observed in the 2000s.
Since 2010, Klimenko worked on an aggregator of news from social networks, which began to gain popularity thanks to the advent of smartphones and the era of fast mobile Internet. But the aggregator was launched only in 2014. At the same time, the aggregator does not show the news of Ukrainian media, there are no materials from the Dozhd TV channel.
After being appointed adviser to the President, Klimenko handed over control of his projects to his son. It is known that on the main pages of the LiveInternet resource torrent tracker ads were repeatedly seen. Klimenko himself stated that neither he nor the son are related to the torrent, although he personally knows the owners of the resource.
Klimenko about myself
German himself considers himself a tradesman and practitioner, speaks of the Russian Internet as a "black hole" that can absorb any projects, since they often require serious investment, but bring little profit and take too long to pay off.
With so much practical and sober view of life, Klimenko is a pretty principled person. He left his job at the bank, as the management forced the dismissal of his other employees. The first wife of Herman found this act strange, which ultimately initiated their separation, followed by a divorce.
Klimenko and Runet
German Klimenko is actively lobbying for the disconnection of the Runet from the global network, saying that Russia is technically ready, the only problem is the storage of information and the use of foreign servers. He actively criticizes the actions of Google and the Telegram instant messaging service, threatening to block.
And, as some media note, Klimenko from the very beginning associated himself with the government, even before he took up the post of adviser to the President. It was Klimenko who actively criticized the refusal of the deputies, who passed the law obliging to store personal data on domestic servers. However, he sharply changed his mind, proposing to ban foreign social networks after the outbreak of military events in Ukraine.
