Over the centuries-old history of its development, mankind has come up with many useful and necessary things. The inventors made a lot of efforts to facilitate the life and work of a person. But one invention was especially important and very timely. It is a thermometer invented about four centuries ago.

How to measure temperature?
Modern thermometers seem to be something familiar and mundane. And few people think that until relatively recently the temperature of objects surrounding a person, water and air had to be determined only by sensations. A person could only say whether it’s warm today or cold, but there was nothing to precisely determine the temperature.
The Middle Ages became the era when interest in science and precise measurements appeared and increased. Mathematics, with its methods for the quantitative assessment of phenomena, has firmly taken the position of "Queen of the sciences." People have learned to measure quite accurately the volume and weight of a variety of objects. And only temperature for a long time did not give in to measurement. And this is not surprising, because it is neither possible to see or objectively evaluate this characteristic of material objects in the usual way.
