Biography
On September 25, 1958, the future artist Anatoly Vladimirovich Kotenev was born in the Abkhaz SSR. A year later, the family left Abkhazia and moved to Stavropol, in the city of Nevinnomyssk. The actor’s childhood passed there. Anatoly had no prerequisites for acting, he grew up in an ordinary working-class family. Mom worked in kindergarten as a teacher, and dad worked as a simple engineer at the enterprise.
At school, the boy was very keen on modeling and attended various circles. Anatoly dreamed of a real male profession - he wanted to become a sailor. But in the seventh grade, he attended one of the school rehearsals and was simply fascinated by the game on stage. Despite the great desire to connect his life with acting, Anatoly, at the insistence of his father, went to school to get a serious profession. Kotenev learned to turn and even worked for some time at the factory.
After some time, he still decided to continue the path of the actor and went to the city of Sverdlovsk. There he easily entered the theater school, but a year later he was drafted into the army. After the "demobilization" the actor did not return to Sverdlovsk, he decided to conquer the capital and went to Moscow. In 1984, he graduated from the Moscow Art Theater, but he could not find a warm place in Moscow, after which he accepted the offer of one of the Minsk theaters.
Career
In the same 1984, Anatoly Kotenev held a film debut. He took part in the filming of two films at once. He performed episodic roles in the films "Unknown Soldier" and "Islands on Distant Lakes." Demand for a talented actor has grown rapidly, to date, he has accounted for more than 60 films. In 2015, he played one of the most memorable roles in his career: Anatoly played the role of Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev in the dramatic film "Chief". Thanks to his striking appearance, Kotenev became practically a hostage to the image: he is mainly invited to the roles of high-ranking officials or military commanders. It is worth noting that the characters are mostly positive.
One of the last works of the actor is the dramatic film "Time of the First", which tells about the events of the 60s, in the film Anatoly played the role of a rather colorful character, General Nikolai Kamanin.
