Every Russian Orthodox believer especially reveres the memory of the great saint of God - the Monk Seraphim of Sarov. It is no coincidence that he is called a miracle worker, because both during life and after death, the Monk Seraphim has performed and continues to perform many miracles to bestow health and help in various everyday needs and troubles.
Prokhor Mashnin was born (that was the name of the saint in the world) in Kursk in 1754. The days of the earthly life of the great righteous ended at 78 years old on January 2 (old style) in 1833. From the life of St. Seraphim, his special love for people is known, the old man addressed each person with the words: “My joy!” One of the greatest feats of Seraphim of Sarov is prayer on a stone for his native Fatherland for a thousand days and nights. The holy Monk Seraphim is known as the founder of the largest convent in Russia, called Diveevsky. The Monk Seraphim himself called this monastery a female Lavra. The relics of the great prayer book are now resting there.
The Orthodox Church commemorates the Monk Seraphim of Sarov the Wonderworker twice a year. On January 15, according to the new style, the fullness of the Russian Orthodox Church solemnly honors the day of the repose of the great reverend. On this day, in all churches consecrated in honor of the elder, solemn services are held. For the female monastery in Diveevo this day is a special holiday.
There is a second date for veneration of St. Seraphim: August 1, according to the new style. On this day in 1903, the elder was canonized with the participation of the hierarchs of the Church and Emperor Nicholas II. On the same day the relics of the great saint of God were found. On the day of the canonization of the Monk Seraphim of Sarov in Diveevo, great triumphs are celebrated. Not only thousands of people from different countries, but also hundreds of bishops of the Church, headed by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, flock to the monastery to worship the relics of the holy saint of God.
