Scientists still can not confirm the existence of the soul with absolute certainty. Nevertheless, a person’s faith in having a soul is so strong that he does not need scientific arguments.
Scientific point of view
Scientists are close to the idea that the soul is an energy clot that is inside the human body. It is formed in the womb and leaves the body a few days after death. The existence of such a bunch of energy was proven several tens of years ago. Nowadays, there are many devices that can determine its shape, size and spectral color. However, there is still no scientific evidence that it is this energy cloud that is the soul of man.
Plato
Ancient Greek Plato believed that externally the soul looks as one. Whereas inside a person is a combination of a person, a lion and a chimera, which coexist in one body. A short-sighted person starves his inner appearance with spiritual hunger and feeds the many-headed beast, while a reasonable one tries to be fair, taming the lion and ennobling the chimera. Plato presented this image as an allegory, which he tried to explain the actions of man.
Representation of the soul by the peoples of the world
Representatives of the Eskimo people believe that the soul exactly repeats the appearance of the body. However, it is translucent and airy.
Indians of the Nootka tribe, living on the island of the same name, believe that the soul is like a small copy of a person 30-50 centimeters tall. At night, he can leave the physical body and walk around the house.
The ancient Slavs, who lived in the western European part of Russia, believed that the soul was like a translucent cloud of smoke, which can take on any shape. According to legend, it was in the area between the throat and the stomach. Ancient people believed that it grows and ages with a person, eating pairs of food that he consumes.
The first settlers of Sloboda Ukraine had a belief that the soul is a tiny person with a transparent body who protects his master. And the inhabitants of the Vladimir region believed in the same little man, but they imagined him without bones.
Many peoples of the world believed that the souls of dead or even living people in a state of sleep can take the form of animals, insects or trees.
