Most of all, it is not some framework that limits it, but, on the contrary, their complete absence. People of creative professions understand this best of all: it can be incredibly difficult to choose a theme for a future work, especially if a million ideas of various kinds are in the head at the same time.

Instruction manual
1
Try to start without a topic. When you get inspiration, a desire to write and think of something, do not waste this moment thinking about ideas - sit down at the pen right away. Do not adhere to any framework (structural, logical or genre), but simply write about what comes to your mind. It is possible that the resulting chapter will turn out to be the last in the future book, or you will fill one of the many. And if during the work on it you don’t have any options for the development of events or interesting ideas, then no one bothers just putting it on the shelf.
2
Look for inspiration from other authors. The more you read, the more you will learn the plot development options, stylistic techniques and ways to build a work. In particular, you may be interested in the problem described in the book (let it be teenage psychology from The Catcher in the Rye), but you may want to look at the issue from a different perspective (for example, not on behalf of a teenager, but on the part of his parents).
3
Take advantage of the popular setting. If you find it difficult to come up with your own fantasy world or want to write a story about existing characters, then there is nothing wrong with that. Dozens of books are created on the basis of particularly popular ideas (take STALKER), and some universes become world classics (Warhammer 40'000 or Dungeons & Dragons).
4
Do not try to write the Bible the first time. The mistake of many beginning writers is that they try to put their whole soul into the first work at once. This can happen only if the soul is actually small (which is unlikely). Therefore, it is better to consciously create "local" works, with a clearly defined theme and idea. Only when you feel enough experience in yourself for the realization of something intimate, take on this.
