The Muz-TV Prize is one of the most influential awards in Russian show business. Its receipt automatically puts the artist on a new, higher level. The award ceremony is held annually in early June on the territory of the Moscow Olympic Sports Complex.
Despite the fact that many performers would like to have this award, getting into the number of nominees for the Muz-TV Prize is quite difficult. A few months before the award ceremony, the channel collects a competent jury consisting of music industry figures (producers, music critics, journalists, etc.). This small team reviews the awards offered by the channel (“Singer of the Year”, “Best Album”, etc.) and wonders who deservedly could receive the award. As a result, the jury selects up to 5 nominees for a particular title and reports to the channel.
Next comes the next stage in determining the winners of the award. The Muz-TV channel holds a special press conference at which it announces the list of prizes and nominees approved this year. A few days later, the channel’s website opens the possibility of voting for viewers, who are entrusted with the task of choosing a worthy representative of music in a particular field.
After the completion of voting, the channel’s employees calculate the results, and already proceeding from them, form the scenario for the award ceremony. As a rule, there is no disagreement with the results of the jury’s decision and voting, but if this happens, the channel has the right not to revise the final verdict of the public and leave the situation as it is. After the Muz-TV 2012 Award Ceremony, the channel’s management announced the decision to close the prize after ten years of its existence.
