The American journalist and pagan Margot Adler believed that the altar is a place where there is an opportunity to reflect on things that you really appreciate. Home altars have a long history. In ancient times they were devoted to coasts and house spirits, then - to "official" religions. Something dear and significant for a person’s spiritual life is always stored on the altar.

Instruction manual
1
When starting to create and equip the altar at home, first of all, decide whether you want to make it permanent or temporary.
The temporary altar does not have its permanent place and is erected only for the duration of the rituals. Such an altar does not require the manufacture of special furniture and additional space in the house. They do not cause unnecessary curiosity from others.
The permanent altar has its advantages: it reduces the time to prepare for rituals and is the "heart of the house" that protects housing from adversity.
2
Choose the best place for the altar in the house where you feel good and it will not hurt anyone. If you need to hide the altar from strangers, place it in the drawer of the cabinet, which can be locked with a key if necessary.
3
The altar is personal space. Place objects important for you on it. These can be icons, images and figures of the gods whom you worship, charms, amulets, stones that have power and bring happiness.
4
Place a box, jar or bag of salt on the altar. It has a cleansing power and helps withstand financial turmoil.
5
An important element of any altar is fire. He was always considered sacred. Fire brings warmth, health and protection to the home. Place candles or an oil lamp on the altar. Candles in glass caps, which can be left burning for a long time, are well suited for this. White candles provide peace in the house and are used to worship the gods.
6
To decorate and increase the strength of the altar, put a bouquet of fresh flowers on it. Make sure that the water in the vase is clean all the time, and at the first noticeable wilting of the bouquet, remove it from the altar.
7
Light the altar with incense or other incense. The incense ritual is a way of honoring higher powers and cleanses the house of stagnant energies.
8
To remove the negative energy resulting from the bustle of the day, spray the altar counterclockwise with peppermint infusion or lemon juice.
9
Always keep the altar clean and tidy. Give him at least a few minutes a day. This will help in strengthening spiritual connections and concentration of consciousness.
note
It is not recommended to install an altar in the bedroom. If you have only one room, cover the altar with a cloth or curtain for the night.
Do not place photos of a deceased person on the altar. Allocate a separate place for it.
Useful advice
Do not clutter the altar with unnecessary items. This can be a distraction. The altar should be a source of centered, calm energy.
