A great number of books have been written about the Great Patriotic War. Memorials and museum displays, films and radio programs tell about the events of those days. Nevertheless, not every young Russian is able to answer the question of what happened then and who fought with whom. The memory of the war must be kept, including in your family.

Instruction manual
1
The participants in the Great Patriotic War are very elderly people. Many of them probably already had to talk about what happened to them. However, try talking to your old veterans again. It is possible that one of them will come up with an episode that he had not talked about before. To find those who fought in 1941-45, they will help you in the City Council of Veterans or in the department of social protection of the population. Stories are best recorded on a voice recorder or camcorder.
2
Those who were children during the war years, you will find easily. They also have something to tell. Among them, there will certainly be juvenile prisoners of fascist concentration camps, and home front workers. The testimony of a man who lived far from the front line may also be invaluable - after all, victory was also forged in the rear, he himself or his parents probably worked in a factory or on a collective farm during the war years.
3
Ask your respondents for photographs of the war years, scan them, sign them. You can arrange the materials in different ways - in the form of an album with decrypted texts, presentations, and video films. The material can be shown at a courage lesson, an evening dedicated to Victory Day, a meeting with a youth activist, etc.
4
They say that the war ends when the last soldier is buried. Not all WWII soldiers have yet been found and buried with their honors. If you want to restore justice, join the search squad. If this is not the case in your city, create your own, register it with the Search Forces Fund and take part in the search expedition. They work in all areas where there were fights. Search engines are looking not only for the remains of the fallen, they are constantly replenishing exhibits with museums of military glory, thereby preserving the memory of the war.
5
Relatives of many Russians, as well as residents of other former Soviet republics, died on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. If you have such, you can take part in the "Immortal Regiment" campaign. To do this, you need to enlarge the photo of a relative to A4 format, sign his surname, name and part number (if known) and attach it to the banner. Even in small cities, there are firms that do this. But nothing prevents you from making such a banner yourself, because no standards are provided for participation in the action. It is important that there is a portrait of the deceased war veteran.
6
If in your area there is a war memorial or any object associated with the fighting, you can arrange a subbotnik there. This is especially important if you live in a small village in the budget of which there are not enough funds for such purposes. It is worth announcing this on social networks - and those who want to help you will certainly be found. It is better to pre-arrange with the municipal service, which would help to take out the garbage.
7
In some small cities, folk museums are now being created. Nothing prevents you from creating one like that. For example, there are cases when the museum was located in the former bunker, the casemate of an abandoned fortress, the former barracks, etc. Such museums are usually created by groups of enthusiasts of all ages. The People's Museum is a great opportunity to unite people of different generations.
