Instruction manual
1
Buy a ticket to Mumbai. Pleasure, of course, is not cheap, but if you really want to star in an Indian film, there is no other way for a beginner actor. Stay in one of the inexpensive hotels in the former colonial Colaba district. It is there that you can meet movie agents who almost round the clock look for extras of European appearance. In order to agree with them on participation in the film, a minimum knowledge of the English language will be quite enough. You can also find film agents in the oldest cafe in Mumbai - "At Leopold", which is one of the mandatory points of a standard tourist route.
2
In order to get to Bollywood, you can go on vacation in the state of Goa. If the film requires a large crowd with the participation of whites (and it is often required), agents come to this state, as it has been loved by Europeans and Americans since the time of the hippies. Chat with compatriots who live here and find out where you can probably meet people from Bollywood. It is possible that one of our fellow citizens himself starred in an Indian film. Ask them to tell you if they don’t mind.
3
If you have agreed with the agent, sign the contract. Typically, participation fees in extras range from $ 30 to $ 50 per shooting day. By the standards of India, this is a lot of money. True, up to 30% of the fee you will have to give to the agent. But then you will be provided with free food and accommodation for the duration of your participation in the filming.
4
Behave calmly during filming, follow the instructions of the director and his assistants. If something seems funny or ridiculous to you, try to restrain yourself, treat what is happening as a serious job. Be prepared for the fact that there can be countless duplicates, and the weather in India is almost always wet and hot. So if you feel any inconvenience, tell the assistant about this, and he will try to help you.
5
To go from the work of an extras to small roles in episodes, you need to go a long way. It is advisable for men to master martial arts and dance, women - dance and singing. And while people with a European appearance are offered only negative roles or, at best, supporting roles, you can be sure that in crowded India they will definitely begin to recognize you on the streets.
