Instruction manual
1
Submit an application for amendments to the column " nationality " in the registry office (civil registry offices) at the place of residence. The application can be written in any form to the registry office. The application must consist of: a request for a change of nationality, date of preparation, signature of the applicant. Such applications are allowed not only at the place of residence, but also at the place of birth.
2
Gather all the necessary documents: birth certificate, marriage certificate (and, if available, divorce). In the event that a change of nationality occurs on the basis of a different nationality of the father or mother, birth certificates of the father or mother are also required.
3
Be patient, as an application for a change of nationality can be considered within a month. For some reasons that the registry office determines, the review period may be extended, but in any case, the review may not last longer than two months.
4
Be prepared for the fact that, despite the article in the law on the right of self-determination on the issue of nationality, your application will not be accepted. The fact is that such a procedure is carried out extremely rarely, and the law is relatively new. And in reality, the registry office employees may refuse your request on the basis of the internal laws of the registry office. In each individual region of the country, the reasons for the refusal may be indicated by different reasons. In this case, the next step awaits you.
5
In case of refusal, again with all documents, contact the district court of your city, and submit it to the case. The basis of the application is Article 26 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, according to which each citizen of the Russian Federation has the right to determine and indicate his nationality independently. According to this article, no one should be forced to determine their nationality. And, therefore, impede the change of nationality.
Useful advice
The Russian passport does not have the column "nationality" (but it was on the USSR passport), and nationality is not indicated in any other document except in the birth certificate. In fact, this means that belonging to a particular nationality in Russia does not affect anything.
