Utilities are paid through monthly payments. But what if the other owner refuses to participate in the payment for the services provided? There is a solution: you need to divide the personal account and then you will receive different receipts, in accordance with the share of ownership.
Instruction manual
1
Make sure that the second owner is not against dividing the personal account. Without this, paying utility bills separately will not work. It will also be impossible if the apartment is not privatized.
2
Check which organizations supply you utilities. It happens that electricity and gas are provided by third-party organizations, therefore, dividing the bill in the management company or in the HOA will not be enough.
3
Prepare a statement in which you write about the desire to split the personal account and justify your requirement. You will also need to refer to the documents, indicating in which shares the personal account should be divided. Subsequent payment amounts also depend on this. The larger your ownership share, the more you will pay. However, please note that payments are not calculated in direct proportion. For example, if you own a tenth of the total area of the apartment, this does not mean that you will pay only a tenth of the total amount accrued for using housing and communal services.
4
Prepare documents confirming ownership of the apartment. Make a photocopy of these documents and attach them to the written statement. The statement must bear the consent of the other owner to split the personal account and to separate payment for utilities.
5
Give the application and documents to the managing organization or HOA. Please note that in one day your personal account will not be divided. This will take from several days to several weeks, depending on the organization of work of the HOA or the management company.
6
Wait for receipts for utility bills. If you shared a personal account between two owners, there should be two of them. If after a month the receipt arrives as before, general, contact the management company and check if your personal account has been split and how much more time it may take.
