Chancellor Otto Bismarck once remarked that: "You will never hear so many lies as during the war, after the hunt and before the election." This phrase is as relevant as possible in today's political realities. It can also be attributed to the pre-election situation in the United States on the eve of the next presidential election, which will be held in November.

As you know, a two-party system has developed in the United States, therefore, at the final stage of the struggle for the highest political post in the country, two candidates take part, one from the Democratic Party and the other from the Republican Party. The current President of the United States, Borac Obama, who, according to the Constitution, has the right to take this post again, became a candidate from the Democrats. From the Republicans, Mitt Romney, the ex-governor of Massachusetts, is participating in the election.
Candidates were nominated at a congress of their parties. Both of these events became a spectacle that aroused the interest of the majority of voters from both one and the other. It is noteworthy that in the speeches urging the congress participants to support the candidacy of Romney and Obama, the spouses of both took part. Both of them talked about the high moral and ethical qualities of their husbands, and many experts noted that their sincerity greatly helped to nominate both politicians.
The pre-election race between Obama and Romney is going through quite intensively, and at the moment there is no obvious favorite yet. If at the beginning of the election race Obama's rating was slightly higher, then already in the first week of September the popularity of both candidates was equal - according to the polls, 45% of voters are ready to vote for each.
In September, both presidential candidates do not sit still - they went on trips around the country. In October, public debate awaits them, and they must enlist the support of ordinary Americans, find out about their worries and aspirations, and take into account the wishes in their policy statements. Of course, the main problem that concerns Americans is the economy and, in particular, the rising unemployment rate.
Both Obama and Romney talk about unemployment and promise to increase jobs. If elected, Romney promises to provide an opportunity to find work for 12 million Americans. He criticizes the economic policy of the incumbent president and says that the government is not doing anything to restore confidence in the future for the people. The president, in turn, criticizes Republicans who, having a majority in Congress, simply block all of his proposals to improve the economic situation.
Now the struggle is at its final stage. Over the next weeks, the people of America will have to decide on their preferences and, whatever this choice may be, it is hoped that no one will be able to falsify its results.
