Bibliophilism, that is, a love of books, has become a very entertaining passion for people. As you know, the fall in property prices and, in general, the instability of the economy has given humanity an occasion to reconsider the methods of investment. One of the non-traditional types was the sale and collecting of old books. Not everyone will be able to profitably sell old copies.
Instruction manual
1
Find out the publication date of the work you want to sell. You should be aware that not all books are valuable enough in the market, since, for example, in Soviet times, published books were published in huge circulation, although they cover the period in which potentially expensive, collectible publications were published. Today, such instances are not particularly valuable. An antique book may be called a publication, the issue of which was produced at the time when printing began before 1850. It is also customary to consider an antique thing that is at least 50 years old. All editions issued later are considered second-hand books.
2
Try selling the book online. Choose the appropriate specialized site with great care. There are very few real experts in this field, and it will be difficult to evaluate the old book. In catalogs of non-specialized auctions, books with scuffs and dilapidated pages are almost invisible against the backdrop of the splendor of all books. Remember that the provided antique goods may lose half their price in the presence of such shortcomings.
3
Find out the estimated cost of your book. In order to navigate the prices of such publications, look at the “Catalog of a rare Russian book”, which became one of the first published publications. Although she published prices and items that have a rather ghostly content, you will have an idea of book antiques.
4
Before you put up a book for sale, look at its history on the net, perhaps a book like yours has remained in a single copy. Or it was sold a couple of years ago for an impressive amount. Then, if only you have the book, you can estimate about 10% of the amount for which the same copy was sold.
5
Review your dealer option. If you can’t start selling antiques yourself, contact the antique department. And it’s better to have several at once to choose the highest price that you will be offered. The only problem is that no one can know all the books because of their diversity. Therefore, the price will be assigned “by eye”. The beauty of collecting lies in the fact that an unknown specimen for which someone cannot give anything can make its owner happy.
