The pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, like two sisters, proudly rise in the territory northeast of the capital of Mexico. This is the location of the majestic in the past, and today the ruined city of Teotiucan.

A bit of history
Presumably, the city of Teotiucan (City of the Gods), which personified an entire civilization, was founded in 100 BC, 1000 years before the rise of the Aztec empire. The pyramids of the Sun and Moon were erected by the ancient people as the shrines of celestial bodies, which at that time deified - an ancient Aztec legend says this. But to this day, history cannot give an answer who founded this amazing city - a kind of religious capital of the ancient Mexican state, which left such an indelible mark in the modern world.
The causes of destruction also remain a mystery to historians and archaeologists. Legends interpret the events of past years in different ways, so many different theories are born. But an important factor is the great similarity of the pyramids of the Sun and Moon with the Egyptian ones.
Pyramids of the Sun and Moon
The pyramids of the Sun and Moon are included in the whole complex, where, in addition to the pyramids themselves, there are other impressive structures. To get to the pyramid of the Sun, you should go through the Road of the Dead through the central gate. The road has a length of 2 km. The base of the pyramid is equal in area to the pyramid in Giza, and its other proportions add even more similarities to the magnificent construction of Egypt.
A characteristic feature is an interesting fact: the tops of both Mexican pyramids are on the same level due to the fact that the smaller moon pyramid, 42 m high, is located on a hill. The height of the pyramid of the Sun is 64.5 m.
The construction of the pyramids of the Moon and the Sun personified a certain philosophy, where each individual cell was a symbol of consciousness. This can be seen even in the stairs leading to different levels of the pyramid. For example, the narrowest staircase symbolizes the smallest area of the brain in the symbolic cell of consciousness.
