Communion, or communion, is one of the most important secrets of Christianity. Its importance and depth of meaning is a huge topic, but it is not the subject of the story today. But we will consider scrupulously how to take communion in the church, so that this would benefit a person, but not harm.
Communion can be divided into two large stages: spiritual and physical. Preparation and the act of communion. But, in order not to confuse the reader with complex structures, we give a consistent explanation of what and why should be done. So, for the sacrament to bring beneficial fruit in a person’s life, it follows:
- A week before the sacrament, prepare spiritually by praying and visiting the temple whenever possible. And on the day before the sacrament and on the very day of the sacrament, you should be at the service from the very beginning to the end.
- At least three days before the sacrament, you need to fast. Fasting is to abstain from food of animal origin and to keep oneself from entertaining, celebrating, useless and empty conversations, sinful habits (smoking and drinking alcohol).
- On the day of Communion, you need to come to church in advance in order to set up your "inner man" on a wave of purification.
- Before communing in the church, every believer, over 7 years old, must confess, for which he is given the opportunity before the Divine Liturgy.
- Communion takes place at the end of the Liturgy, when believers take turns approaching a high place in front of the iconostasis - the pulpit, where the priest stands holding the Chalice.
- When approaching the place of communion, you need to fold your arms over your chest in the form of a cross, give your name, and after communion, kiss the base of the Chalice. After that, the believer departs to the place where the servants give a "drink."
- You can leave the church after the sacrament only if the believer kissed the cross at the end of the Divine Liturgy. And leaving the temple, you need to be careful and attentive in order to preserve those wonderful gifts that a Christian receives during the sacrament.
It is better to devote the sacrament day to prayer and meditation on God, reading the Holy Word and the rules for Holy Communion, doing good and merciful deeds.
