When you move into a new house or in your old home after the repairs made there, you often notice that it is not equipped. Of course, the apartment may have all the signs of domestic comfort - electric lighting, heating, but there is a feeling that something is missing. And perhaps not enough spiritual warmth. Therefore, your home needs sanctification.
Instruction manual
1
To consecrate an apartment, it is not enough to invite a priest to it. You should prepare your home for this sacrament yourself. If the house has icons, put them in a place of honor (the "red corner"). The usual place for the icons is at the window facing south, on the east side of the room.
2
Place the cross above the icons or in their upper row. Do not place photographs of your loved ones next to the icons or decorate the icons with paper flowers or electric garlands. It will be appropriate to place a clean white towel next to the icons.
3
Usually, the consecration of the home is performed by a clergyman, who should be invited in advance. But if for some reason it is impossible to do this, you can consecrate your home yourself, the church provides such a right. It is advisable to do this on the day of the Epiphany (Baptism) or on the eve of this day. Take blessed baptismal water in the temple and sprinkle your home everywhere, accompanying the process of singing the baptismal troparion. Sprinkle with a brush from a rosary or a handful, crosswise.
4
After sprinkling the apartment with blessed water, with a candle, smoke four walls of the dwelling on all sides of the horizon, depicting a cross. If there is no candle, you can simply depict a small cross on the walls in a different way.
5
Store the blessed water in the “red corner” where the icons are, and not in the kitchen or bookcase.
6
After the consecration of the apartment, refrain from smoking in it, swearing and committing sinful acts. The second time the apartment is usually not consecrated.
