The future footballer was born in January 1985 on the sixth in the Russian city of Stavropol. From an early age he was a very active child, but he did not have much interest in football. Parents recorded Valery in the acrobatics section. A little later he began to engage in volleyball. When the boy first saw the football match live, he immediately decided to engage exclusively in this sport. In 1994, his parents took Valery to the local Dynamo youth sports school, where he began to take his first steps in football.
Six years later, the Sorokins moved to Moscow. The novice football player was able to attach to the football academy "Spartak", where he lasted only one year. Sorokin later spent a year at the Lokomotiv school.

Starting next year, he became a full-fledged football player. In July 2005, he first entered the field in the main team of Dynamo. The debut took place as part of the country's cup, at the 1/16 stage of the draw against the Dynamo football club from Bryansk.

For Valery, the season was quite satisfactory, he regularly appeared on the field and tried to work to the maximum. But the club itself could not cope with the installation for the season: according to the results of the Spartak draw, it did not go up and did not get into the Premier League, after which the leadership dismissed the team. Valery returned to the Moscow Dynamo.
