It seems that attaching a new star to shoulder straps is easier than light, just make a hole and insert it. However, this is not the case. In order to appear before the authorities and subordinates in the new rank, you will have to arm yourself with an awl and a ruler. The fact is that according to Order No. 255 of May 28, 1994, the distance between the sprockets is strictly regulated.
You will need
- stars,
- awl,
- regular ruler
- shoulder straps
Instruction manual
1
So, we try to arrange the stars according to all the rules:
Only the "right" stars are needed, i.e. faceted (Russian sample). Dull gray stars are attached to the field form, and golden stars are attached to the other types of forms (ceremonial, everyday, etc.).
2
Using a ruler, measure 45 mm from the bottom of the shoulder strap for junior lieutenants, 25 mm for lieutenants, 20 mm for senior lieutenants and captains - the center of the first star will be located here.
3
Carefully pierce the hole with an awl, insert and fasten the star (screw or lock with the help of special “paws”). Attention should be paid to the strength of the mount: the sprocket should not stagger.
4
In the same way, place another star on the officer’s shoulder straps, taking into account that there should also be 25 mm between the centers of neighboring stars. Upper sprockets for senior lieutenants and captains are mounted at a distance of 20 mm from the line connecting the centers of the lower stars.
5
Repeat all the above steps with the second shoulder strap.
note
Do not forget about the size of the attached stars and their number. For senior officers, they are larger than for junior officers and warrant officers, and the most “significant” insignia are among generals and marshals. The junior lieutenant is entitled to one small star in the center of the epaulet, the lieutenant - two small stars, the senior lieutenant has the right to three stars, and the captain - to four. The major, lieutenant colonel and colonel fasten one, two and three large stars on shoulder straps, respectively.
Useful advice
Stars intended for mounting on shoulder straps should be bought at specialized military stores.
It is better to purchase asterisks for the field form immediately with a margin and try to attach them as firmly as possible: in the conditions of exercises and testing of equipment, they tend to get lost. However, any stars can be pulled out, clinging to the lining of an overcoat or pea jacket. That is why it is worth paying maximum attention to their reliable fixation.
