Almost any person can fall under the influence of sectarians. There are many cases when the most sensible and realistic people became limp slaves of some "guru". They renounced their previous lives, gave the sect all their property, and any attempts to reason them met with outright hostility. In those rare cases when a person realized what swamp they dragged him into, leaving the sect was very difficult: psychological pressure and even physical violence were used.
Instruction manual
1
Contact a specialist, because a lot depends on the loved ones, relatives of the newly-minted sectarian. They must clearly understand that the point is not licentiousness, whim. A person was simply “brainwashed” well and very effectively, depriving him of the ability to critically perceive the surrounding reality. Indeed, the methodology of attracting new members in sects is set to a very high level. Therefore, without the qualified help of a psychologist, and often a psychiatrist, one can not do here, just like without the support of loved ones.
2
But what if the person stubbornly does not consider himself sick, in need of help? And so it is in the vast majority of cases. This is not an easy question, because by law it is impossible to treat by force. Here you need to get the advice of a qualified lawyer. There are circumstances when, by court order, a compulsory psychiatric examination of a person can be achieved.
3
Whenever possible, stop the communication of the person close to you with the sect and the people who are in it. Persuade him to go to another place without leaving contacts by which the sectarians could find him. If you do not agree, limit yourself to his communication with the outside world. Only try not to overdo it, because no one has yet canceled the article of the Criminal Code on the forcible restriction of freedom.
4
Sometimes communication with religious ministers helps. Try to seek help from an authoritative, respected priest (mullah, rabbi). Cases are known when sectarians, after conversations with them, seemed to be seeing.
5
If you have good reason to believe that a person is being held in a sect by force or through threats, contact the police. Be persistent if someone tries to dismiss your statement.
