Director Biography
Roman Romanovich Kachanov was born on January 17, 1967 in the Soviet Union, in the Kuntsevsky district of Moscow, in an ordinary family of Soviet citizens. The boy's father, Roman Abalevich Kachanov, was engaged in directing and was one of the founders of puppet animation. Mom, bearing an amazing name - Gara, worked as an economist in the engineering bureau.
From childhood, little Roman grew up a mischievous little boy, and, having matured, he began to bully with yard boys and often ran away from home. In secondary school, Roman studied poorly. At the age of 14, having somehow graduated from the eight-year-old, the wayward guy went to work. First, he worked at the post office as a newspaper deliveryman, and then he shut up with the assistant to the famous Soviet writer and science fiction writer Igor Vsevolodovich Mozheiko, better known under the pseudonym Kir Bulychev. He then thought of Kachanov to graduate from evening school and go to directing courses.

In 1985, the young man entered the State Institute of Cinematography named after Gerasimov, at the faculty of art history. Having mastered the wisdom of science, Roman Romanovich publishes his first article - a story about the technology of those years, which a year later forms the basis of the animated film. Having been educated in 1989, Kachanov seriously engaged in creative activities. Numerous poems and plays, articles and short stories come out from under his pen, which subsequently will certainly be made into films.
In 1990, Roman Romanovich Kachanov tries himself as a director and makes a full-length film about the life of young people in the difficult “perestroika” time “Do not ask me about anything.” This work of the director caused mixed reviews in the cinematic world and a lot of negative critical reviews, so the film premiered on the big screen only five years after its creation. The following paintings by Roman Kachanov, many of which are also fiercely rejected by the public, eventually become iconic and are included in the list of the best Russian films. “Down House”, “DMB”, “Tumbler”, “Take Tarantina” bring popularity and success to the extraordinary director. For all his creative activity, Roman Romanovich had a hand in creating more than 30 films.
