Difficult childhood
The rapid development of science has generated many interesting effects. In addition to the familiar branches of knowledge - philosophy, history and economics - new ones began to appear. They started talking about sociology “out loud” in the early 50s of the last century. Igor Kon ventured to write an article on this topic and deliver a lecture to students. In those days, it was a risky move. The future sociologist and anthropologist was born on May 21, 1928 in an incomplete family. Parents at that time lived in Leningrad. The father came to see his son and see how the child develops once a week. Mother worked as a nurse, and only spent the night at home.
According to the memoirs of Igor Semenovich, early childhood was calm and cloudless. Trials and difficulties began in the war. The child, together with his mother, went to the evacuation. Refugees from Leningrad were placed in Naberezhnye Chelny. At school, the boy studied only excellently. When he was fifteen years old, Cohn passed exams for the tenth grade externally. He received a certificate of maturity and entered the history department of the local pedagogical institute. After lifting the blockade, the family returned to the city on the Neva. Igor continued to receive higher education at the Leningrad Institute.

Scientific activity
When Cohn was nineteen years old, he received a diploma of historian and entered graduate school. More precisely, in graduate school in two directions - history and philosophy. A scientist with a wide range of interests worked on the third dissertation on legal awareness, but refused to defend it on the advice of senior comrades. In 1950, the candidate of historical and philosophical sciences was seconded to the Vologda Pedagogical Institute for permanent residence and work. Two years later he returned to Leningrad, because of the shaken health.
For several years, the famous scientist gave lectures and conducted seminars at the Faculty of Philosophy of Leningrad State University. His fresh views on the subject evoked a lively response from the student audience. Creativity Igor Semenovich appreciated. In the late 60s he was invited to do research at the Institute of Sociology at the USSR Academy of Sciences. The teacher and scientist is doing his favorite thing. In 1985, when perestroika began in the country, Cohn moved to Moscow. From here he was sent for an internship at Harvard University.
