Biography
Matt Dillon was born in 1964 in the American city of New Rochelle, located in the state of New York. The family was large, and the young generation consisted of five sons and one daughter. From childhood, Matt experienced a lack of parental attention, so he preferred to spend time outdoors. He early began to earn money on his own, trying on the profession of a loader and a peddler of newspapers. At the age of 15, the boy was noticed by director Jonathan Kaplan and offered to star in his next film. So Matt actually played himself in the film "Over the Edge", dedicated to the problems of teenage street children.
Another and quite similar role came to the aspiring actor in 1983, when he starred in the film Outlaws directed by Francis Coppola. Together with him in the film were Tom Cruise and Patrick Swayze. The third film was “Fighting Fish”, after which Dillon was already well recognized by the audience. This was followed by another memorable role in the films "Pharmacy Cowboy" and "Everything Is Mad About Mary", for which the actor received several international film awards.
Matt Dillon was completely dedicated to the filming process and tried to agree only to those roles that he considered suitable for himself. In this regard, the time gaps between the films were growing. Another picture called "Collision" was released in 2005. For the role of a racist policeman, the actor was nominated for an Oscar and several other awards, but he did not become a laureate of any of them. Periodically, Matt took a break from dramatic roles, starring in comedies, including "He, Me, and His Friends, " "So-So Vacation, " "It's Beautiful to Go, " and others.
Often, films featuring Matt Dillon are quite resonant. Among them, one can distinguish a detective thriller with an erotic bias “Wildness”, as well as one of recent works - the drama with horror elements “The House That Jack Built”, filmed in 2018 by the scandalous director Lars von Trier. Matt managed to try himself in the director's chair: in 2002, he released a full-length film "The City of Ghosts."
