Childhood and youth
At one time, this man was well known in literary and cinematic circles. Not to say that he was at the pinnacle of recognition and fame, but he was considered a good craftsman among professionals in a legal sense. Arthur Sergeyevich Makarov was born on June 22, 1931 in an international family. Parents at that time lived in Leningrad. Father, German by nationality, worked as an accountant. Mother was engaged in housework. Literally six months after the birth of the baby, they divorced.
The mother’s younger sister, the popular actress Tamara Makarova, took the boy to her. Her husband, no less famous director Sergei Gerasimov agreed with this proposal. As a result of official procedures, Arthur received the name of his aunt and the middle name of his uncle. It should be noted that the boy did not experience material problems. He was eating balanced. He was well dressed - his adoptive parents were wealthy people. It is important to emphasize that they practically did not have time to engage in raising a child.
Arthur studied well at school, but there weren’t enough stars from the sky. His favorite subject was history and literature. In the apartment of the adoptive parents accumulated a lot of books that the boy read everything. He almost did not prepare for lessons, because he simply did not have enough time. All hours free from school and reading books, Makarov spent on the street. Here, in the courtyards and gateways, his character was formed. He clearly understood that it is not possible to sneak or report on anyone. The most important rule is to die yourself, and help a comrade.
Already in high school, Makarov began to try his hand as a writer. Themes for stories and essays were suggested by the surrounding reality. In one of the stories, the author described the story of how he was taught to play cards. The future writer and screenwriter lived in Bolshoi Karetny Lane. Arthur never forgot about the mores and rules of this alley and often inserted his memories in his works. In 1948, Makarov graduated from high school and tried to enter the scenario department of VGIK. At the creative contest, he submitted one of his stories. The commission did not find grounds for issuing a student ID.

Literary work
Of course, Arthur was hard hit by the setback. But he began to give himself up for a long time and entered the Literary Institute. Receiving a specialized education, Makarov was systematically engaged in creativity. He not only wrote his own works, but also actively engaged in translations. This lesson made it possible to get even a small but stable income. Three novels, several short stories and plays were published in various publishing houses. In the mid-60s, two stories of the writer, "Home" and "On the Eve of Farewell, " appeared on the pages of the magazine "New World".
In that chronological segment, censorship in literature was harsh. Someone did not like these stories and Makarov "closed" the opportunity to publish his works. In order not to lose the skill of literary work, the young writer began to work on film scripts. Six months later, at the Uzbekfilm studio, the film “Red Sands” was taken for production, according to the script by Arthur Makarov. The next project brought the screenwriter all-Union fame. People of the older generation remember well the film "The New Adventures of the Elusive." Without exaggeration, the whole Soviet country looked at this picture.
Modern hermit
In the second half of the 60s, Arthur Makarov felt tired and tired of the busy city life. After some hesitation, he moved to a permanent place of residence in a remote village in the Russian north. He quickly got used to the harsh climate and simple rules of survival. He lived in a house that people who moved to the city left him. Here, he fully felt the justice of the popular proverb - the house is not big, but he doesn’t order to sit. Had to repair the roof. Harvesting firewood for the winter. Mowing hay for a cow.
The writer revealed the talent of the earner. He hunted both small game and large beast. Several times "went" to the bear. In his free time, he continued to engage in literary work. He wrote what is called on the table. Periodically visiting Moscow, he left his scripts at various film studios. He carried his stories and stories to the editors of "thick" magazines. He mainly wrote about village life. On the difficulties and joys of relationships with nature.
