Zubayra Tukhugov is a Russian mixed-style fighter entering the featherweight ring. He became known to the general public as a participant in the mass brawl that occurred in the States after the duel of Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor in September 2018.
Biography: early years
Zubayra Alikhanovich Tukhugov was born on January 15, 1991 in the village of Tsentoroy, which is 60 km from Grozny. At school, the future fighter studied secondary. He did not differ in good behavior; he was quick-tempered and unbalanced. In order to direct the son’s energy into a peaceful direction, his parents wrote him into the fight section. Zubayra quickly became one of the best students.
Even then, he began to dream of a fighter career. So, looking with his father all the “mixed” championships, Zubayra set a goal for himself in the future to become their participant.
When Tukhugov turned 13 years old, he moved from the village to the city of Gudermes. There he began to practice at the Ramzan Fight Club. In an interview, Zubayr noted that his arrival in this club became crucial for him.
Already in adolescence, coaches considered Tukhugov a promising fighter. His weight, height and physique subsequently allowed him to become one of the best "drummers".
At 16, Zubair went to conquer Moscow. There he continued to train actively, despite family problems and injuries. Tukhugov became a member of the famous metropolitan club "Fortress".
As a teenager, Zubayr took the “bronze” at the European Championship in hand-to-hand fighting among young men. At the World Championships he has already won a silver medal. And at the Moscow Sambo Championship he became the first.
Career
In the period from 2010 to 2013, Zubayr performed in lightweight. At that time, he had a chip - for some fights, he began to go out under the famous Chechen song "Madina". Zubayra notes that it is this song that helps him concentrate and tune in to the fight.
In 2011, Tukhugov missed more than half the season. For six months he was in prison for assaulting a police officer. The fighter is ashamed of this act and tries not to comment in the interview.
The first match outside of Russia was against Kuat Khamitov. It took place in Kazakhstan. Then Tukhugov in the second round "neutralized" the enemy.
In February 2018, Zubayr was caught doping. Experts concluded that the fighter took the banned Ostarin. As a result, Tukhugov was suspended from fights for two years, counting from September 2017. Also, the fighter must pay a fine of 5 thousand dollars.
By mid-2019, Zubayr had 22 fights, of which 18 ended in victory. In this case, by knockout - 6, by a judicial decision - 11 and surrender - 1. Four fights ended in defeat for him. These were fights with Renato Moikano, Murad Muchaev, Akhmed Aliyev and Anton Telepnev.
