Anna Akhmatova, who was a poet's friend, considered his wife stupid. Despite this, Lyubov Dmitrievna was the main muse for Blok, the same Beautiful Lady whom he sang in his poems.
Childhood
Dmitry Ivanovich Mendeleev had six children, so we can say that the family was large. From his previous marriage, he already had Olga and Vladimir, and after the wedding with Anna Popova, Lyuba was born.
When the scientist was fired at the university, he left for Boblovo, his estate. Here he spent most of his time with his family. The children were not spoiled, but later Lyubov Dmitrievna recalled that she was happy.
First love
The families of Mendeleev and Blok communicated. When fathers worked together at the university, children often met for walks in the garden. There were joint games, conversations.
Serious feelings arose much later, in 1898. And before that, the young Blok fell in love with Ksenia Sadovskaya, a married lady with three children. He was sixteen, and she was thirty-seven. They met in the resort of Bad Nauheim. The love was strong, Blok enlightened Ksenia's verses, asked for secret dates. Relations arose after returning to St. Petersburg, but soon Blok cooled off, and Lyubov Dmitrievna became his only muse.
Their meeting at a young age took place in Boblovo during a performance. Lyuba played Ophelia, and Sasha was Hamlet. Blok was struck by a girl who was both gentle and impregnable, and Lyuba did not like him. She decided that he was an arrogant pose. Despite this, after the performance they went for a walk. During the conversation, mutual sympathy arose, so their romance began.
After meeting in Boblovo, young people returned to St. Petersburg, but feelings began to fade. Block thought the relationship was over. Mendeleev decided to get an education. She entered the Higher Women's Courses and immersed herself in student life.
From the side it seemed that they would no longer be together, but fate itself intervened. First, Love caught the eye of Alexander on the street, on the way to class. Later there was a chance meeting at the Maly Theater.
Blok, keen on Soloviev’s ideas, considered these meetings a sign from above. In Lyuba, he saw his Fair Lady. His feelings, dozing up to this point, woke up. Soon they almost turned into an obsession with a girl. Lyuba refused to share his ideas. Due to disagreement, their feelings cooled off, then passion woke up again.
