"And why should I respect them ?!" - the teenager passionately asks, driven by resentment or disappointment. Nevertheless, respect for the representatives of the older generation is an integral part of the culture of various peoples, sometimes completely dissimilar in their customs and beliefs.
Life start
No matter how inclined the representatives of the young generation to deny the merits of the elders, one cannot but admit that it is the previous generation that creates the basis for the subsequent ones. These are material values, and cultural environment, and traditions, preserved and increased by representatives of the older generation.
It happens that children are dissatisfied with the achievements of their parents and tend to reproach them for the fact that they didn’t work there and didn’t work, they could not achieve the standard of living that children consider themselves worthy. But this is wrong! The older generations lived their lives as they considered necessary and possible, provided their children with a certain “launching pad” for development, education, character formation and other personal qualities.
Even if a young man at an early age is able to earn more than his father or mother, then the opportunities for this to a large extent were provided to him by his parents, and this is worthy of respect.
Similarly unfair are the statements of the young against the previous generations regarding the existing social system, the economic and political situation of the country as a whole. The older generation acted as best they could in the proposed historical circumstances, and without their efforts there would be no “starting point” for the activities of subsequent generations. And for this, it is worth respecting people born 20, 40 or more years earlier!
