And in a fight the only rule is that the strongest wins (and sometimes survives). As in war, it is believed that in a fight all means are good. Therefore, you must be prepared for everything, including the fact that your opponent can suddenly grab a weapon and use it against you.

First of all, if you think that the main thing is power, you need to forget about your idea of a fight. Because during street fighting, force plays far from the first role. The outcome of the fight is 80% dependent on the psychological mood, 15% on the technique (your ability to fight), and only 5% on the strength. Therefore, the first thing to do to protect yourself is to take care of your psychological preparation, which is largely decisive in such a situation.

First things first, forget the rules of fair fight and any pity for your opponent. He will not only pity you, but at any unexpected moment he will be ready to strike. If dignity, health and even more so the life of you or your loved ones are at risk, then to pity the enemy in such a situation means to show unjustified weakness. Learn how to transform from a person into a ferocious beast during a battle, while maintaining inner composure. Let the adversary not only fear you, but be terrified of you.

Arming yourself with brass knuckles or other improvised weapons is fraught with problems with the law, and will you always carry it with you? It’s better to instantly assess the situation and arm yourself with what comes to hand: a club, a tin can or a broken bottle. Take it in your hands and go to the enemy. At the same time, a handy object as a weapon should not only be beaten, but used as an extension of the hand. Best defense is attack. While you hesitate in anticipation of the actions of your enemy, he will seize your initiative and move on you. Your trump card is an instant assessment of the situation, surprise and swiftness.

And, of course, one cannot fail to mention such a widespread emotion as fear. If there is fear in you, then this internal adversary is more dangerous than the one that has attacked you and is standing in front of you. Therefore, the first enemy that you need to overcome is your own fear. Come your fear in the throat. Imagine this fight could be the last of your life. Therefore, you need to not just fight, but always and surely win. And you must have absolute and perfect confidence that you will win.

Therefore, decisiveness is important to you. Do not think about what you can also get from the enemy. The one who is not afraid to receive and is not afraid of pain wins. Do not spare yourself, but take the initiative in your own hands and beat first.

What if the opponent looks intimidating and, say, two heads taller than you and two times wider in your shoulders? Well, as the proverb says, "a large cupboard falls loudly." Your adversary is the same person as you, and he has vulnerabilities that you simply need to get into and make it as painful as possible for him. If you are determined, then in your hands even a nail file or the most ordinary nail, sandwiched between fingers like a brass knuckles, can become a weapon. If you still do not feel confident in your abilities, then just imagine this person naked and … funny. Imagine it in a caricatured and comic look. Then it will be easy for you to regain the self-confidence that is needed during the battle.

So, power plays almost no role, and therefore you do not need to have huge muscles. You just need to know the vulnerabilities and get there. Vulnerabilities of the enemy: groin (well, this does not need to be explained), kidneys, solar plexus, nape, eyes, temples. And if you forcefully hit an attacker in a place that is just above the heel, then he can generally become lame on that leg. From this moment, two conclusions can be drawn: 1. knowing the key to neutralizing the enemy, even a teenager can protect himself; 2. their vulnerabilities should be most carefully protected.

Nevertheless, the best fight is a failed battle. Try not to provoke a fight yourself. It is known that most often a fight begins with words that develop into an aggressive skirmish. When the limit of patience for one of the participants is exhausted, a fight ensues. Therefore, the best way is to prevent the occurrence of a fight in the bud. Do not succumb to provocations, do not succumb to negative emotions, do not insult or humiliate the enemy. Because aggression breeds aggression.

If you can get out of a conflict without a fight, use it. Often fights can be avoided if you suddenly switch the conversation to another topic (in thieves’jargon -“ move to the market ”), turn the situation into a joke, outwit the enemy, do something unexpected for him, or even“ make legs ”, i.e. just run away. Situations are different, and we must proceed from the situation itself, as well as from the psychology of the enemy. Fighting is the last way out of the situation and far from the best. After all, your life or even the life of your loved ones may be at stake. But if you can’t avoid fighting, then you need to attack first and win.

In conclusion, a few words about the technique and power of the blow. Although strength is not decisive, it still does not hurt to keep fit, especially since it is good for your health. As regards technology, knowledge of a few strokes and techniques may be sufficient. But: these strokes and techniques must be honed to perfection and they must be constantly or at least worked out from time to time. For this purpose, you can enroll in a hand-to-hand combat section, as well as train with someone you know or on homemade simulators that mimic the enemy.
