The brutal murder of the Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi shocked the entire civilized world. Despite NATO claims to protect civilians from its bloody dictatorship, the main motives for the assassination of Gaddafi remained unlit. So what was the Libyan ruler really killed for?

Visible reasons
The real reasons for the murder of Muammar Gaddafi, many call the Libyan oil fields and billions of dollars in banks in the West. However, the destruction of Libyan civilians and a protracted war for the sake of the seized accounts seems a little unjustified - after all, the West could have appropriated the dictator's money by decision of any court or UN resolution. Oil is also a controversial goal - NATO could well quickly suppress the advance of Gaddafi’s troops, put its army in defense of the fields, divide Libya into several parts and plant its government in them.
Libya did not have a large and well-armed army, but it confronted the power of NATO forces for six months, which already raises some questions.
After the monopolization of oil fields and the appropriation of money, Gaddafi would be left with nothing, and NATO would save a large number of its soldiers and save a lot of dollars. However, all these steps are decisively discarded, and they seek to destroy the seventy-year-old Muammar with such fanaticism as if he were the only embodiment of evil on Earth. And this despite the fact that earlier the American president and European leaders affably shook his hand at official receptions.
