Singer Madonna, a US citizen with French and Italian roots, is not only one of the most famous and successful, but also one of the most scandalous performers. Her performances invariably cause a storm of emotions and very conflicting responses, as Madonna behaves provocatively and loves to shock the audience. Exactly the same reaction was caused by the recent performance of this singer in St. Petersburg. After her concert, it was announced that a group of deputies of the local Legislative Assembly would sue her.

Even before arriving in Russia, Madonna in numerous interviews said that she planned to appeal from the stage to support Russian homosexuals, whose rights, in the opinion of the singer, were infringed. The fact is that shortly before this, a local law was passed in St. Petersburg to ban the promotion of same-sex relationships among minors. Now such propaganda (oral or written) on the territory of St. Petersburg is equated to an administrative offense and is punishable by a fine.
The law at the stage of consideration caused a violent reaction among people of non-traditional sexual orientation, who saw this as the unleashing of reprisals against homosexuals. They organized a noisy protest company in the media and the Internet, which was joined by many politicians and public figures of foreign countries. However, the deputies of St. Petersburg did not succumb to pressure, and the law was passed.
Madonna, knowing full well about this law, deliberately went to violate it. During the concert, pink bracelets were handed out to all the spectators, and the singer called from the stage with an appeal to raise her hands to demonstrate solidarity with sexual minorities. Moreover, during the concert, a poster with a six-color rainbow flag (a symbol of a community of people with an alternative sexual orientation) and the words "No fear!" - "No fear!" Madonna showed the audience a naked back with the same slogan, and called for support for homosexuals, bisexuals and transvestites.
The deputies of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, present at the concert, claim that there were children in the hall, among other spectators. In support of this, they refer to the fact that a concert was recorded, and their words can easily be proved. Thus, Madonna violated the law banning the promotion of same-sex relationships among minors, and should be punished. What continuation this story will receive, and whether there is any chance to fine the scandalous singer - time will tell.
