To perform complex and dangerous tricks when shooting films, specially trained people are involved. They are called stunt doubles or stuntmen. Vladimir Zharikov is one of the representatives of the Soviet stunt school.
Starting conditions
At the start of his conscious life, it is very difficult for a person to imagine how the circumstances will develop in the second half of the earthly road. Liability or accident insurance still does not exist. Vladimir Yurievich Zharikov managed to organize an illegal stunt school in Soviet times. He came to this decision when he analyzed in detail adventure films of domestic and foreign production. At that time, educational institutions for training professionals for performing spectacular and dangerous stunts did not exist in the Soviet Union.
The future stuntman and candidate of philosophical sciences was born on November 6, 1938 in an ordinary Soviet family. Parents lived at that time in Smolensk. My father worked in party bodies. Mother was engaged in housework. In the early 50s, the Zharikov family moved to the famous city of Krivoy Rog. At school, Vladimir studied well. His favorite lessons were literature and physical education. At that time, he not only read a lot, but also tried to write poetry. After the tenth grade, Zharikov was drafted into the armed forces.
Professional activity
Thanks to good physical preparation and personal data, Zharikov served in a special unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU). After intensive training, Vladimir spent almost a year in Vietnam, where there was a war with the Americans. Once he was in a group that captured an enemy officer. Returning to the "citizen", a special forces soldier decided to get a specialized education at the philological department of Odessa University. In his student years, he maintained physical fitness - continued to engage in martial arts, sailed for long distances, jumped from a height.
At one point, Zharikov was asked to perform several dangerous tricks on the set. He brilliantly coped with the task. In 1974, the film "Port" was released, where the name of the understudy was indicated in the credits. Over the next ten years, Vladimir worked part time at the Odessa film studio. At the same time, without leaving the main work at the university. In 1986 Zharikov defended his thesis and received the title of candidate of philosophical sciences. From that moment, he began his career as a stuntman.
