Biography
Vladimir Lisin was born in 1956 in a simple working-class family of the city of Ivanovo. He spent his usual childhood here and in 1973 he entered the Siberian Metallurgical Institute, deciding to study as an engineer. From the age of 19, Vladimir began to earn money as an electrician, and after graduation he got a job as a steelworker at a local metallurgical plant. He managed to quickly climb the career ladder, taking the post of deputy chief of one of the shops.
Gradually, Lisin became interested in scientific research and entered the graduate school of the Kharkov Research Institute. Subsequently, this helped him take the post of lead engineer at the Karaganda metal plant, where Vladimir worked for several years in a row under the auspices of the director of the institution Oleg Soskovets.
In 1991, Lisin decided to move to the capital, where he met with Semyon Kislin, the owner of Trans Commodities, which was engaged in the supply of raw materials to Russian metallurgical plants. Men quickly became friends and soon agreed to do business together. Since 1993, he took up the position of an official partner of Trans World Group, joined the board of directors of the Sayanogorsk Aluminum Plant and the Novolipetsk Steel Plant.
In 1996, TWG began to disintegrate, but Lisin envisaged this option and bought back a substantial stake in the Lipetsk Combine, taking control of it and becoming a full owner. Also, the industrialist created the offshore company Worslade Trading for a more profitable sale of their own products abroad. In 1997, he joined the council of the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works and took the presidency in the Russian managing metallurgical company.
After gaining a billionth fortune, Vladimir Lisin began investing in various industries. In 2004, its acquisition was the Stoilensky mining and processing plant, and in 2006 - two seaports, which allowed to establish metal exports to all continents. Since 2013, Lisin has also been the owner of Universal Cargo Logistics Corporation.
