Where to live better: world ranking
Every year, various magazines, portals, world-class institutions conduct research in the field of "good life", which allow to determine the best country in the world for living. Some of the most reliable results are published by the Legatum Institute (London). The well-being index of a country is calculated not only from economic, political, social, climatic and other indicators, but also a survey of residents is conducted. In the world, the results from the Legatum Institute are considered the closest to reality.
This year, Norway was recognized as the best country in the world for life. The Scandinavian country has a stable economy and a high standard of living. Also in Norway, human rights are strictly respected. Residents of all ages feel protected both socially and economically. It is worth noting that Norway has been at the top for five consecutive years (since 2009).
In search of a “better life”, it is worth paying attention to other countries. Switzerland took second place. Over the course of several years, the country gradually climbed higher and higher in the ranking. Experts say: improving the position is associated not so much with economic indicators as with social ones. Swiss residents have become more loyal to migrants and ethnic minorities. Freedom of choice has also grown significantly.
Third place in the ranking of countries in the world in terms of quality of life is Canada. A small population and rich natural resources provide a stable economy. The increase in migrants does not scare local residents: Canadians are very tolerant. It is worth noting that, according to the rating of the Economist Intelligence Unit (analytical company), Vancouver is the best city in the world to live in.
The fourth place among the best countries is occupied by another Scandinavian country - Sweden. The closest neighbor of the leader overcame three positions in a few years. Improvements in this economically stable country are mainly associated with increased levels of security. Residents note that the streets have become much calmer than before.
In fifth place is the distant New Zealand. Unfortunately, the country fell by several positions (compared to the 2009 rating). The main reason for this was a decrease in the level of security - the influx of migrants is affecting. However, the country remains in the top five countries in terms of living standards. The main pillars of New Zealand are education, business opportunities and nature.
