Biography
Vera Alentova was born in 1942 in the town of Kotlas. Almost all of her close relatives worked in the theater, so the fate of the girl was predetermined from birth. Father died when Vera was four years old, after which she and her mother moved to Krivoy Rog. It was there that her school years passed. Vera really wanted to become an actress in the future, but her mother was against it and wanted her daughter to study as a doctor.
After some time, the family settled in Barnaul, where Vera tried to get admission to a medical institute. Having failed, she immediately went to auditions at the local theater. Mother perceived the news with a scandal, trying to reason with her daughter first to get an education in Moscow. Vera obeyed and patiently waited another year before heading to the capital. In Moscow, Alentova managed to enter the Moscow Art Theater School. It was there, in 1961, that she met Vladimir Menshov, who was then still a completely unknown student-actor.
Having been educated in 1965, Vera Alentova began her acting career at the Pushkin Theater. She quickly became one of the best actresses, and many directors wished to work with the young artist. The most successful was the tandem with Roman Kozak: Vera played in his seven brilliant performances. In the same period, she began to try herself in the cinema, starring in the film "Days of Flight", but then for more than 10 years she continued to be a theater actress.
In 1977, Vera Alentova starred in the film "Birth", having received the first widespread fame. By this time, faithful companion for the life of the actress Vladimir Menshov had already taken place as a talented director, and he decided to approve his muse for the main role in the film "Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears." The film immediately gained cult status and in 1981 even received the international film award "Oscar".
