Family, early years
Mikhail Semenovich was born on December 11, 1929. The family lived in Kiev. Michael's parents were Jewish by nationality. Father worked as a worker, mother was a teacher in an orphanage. Before the revolution, the boy’s grandfather kept a grocery store. During the war, the family lived in Tashkent.
In childhood, Misha showed a sense of humor and acting talent, he often made funny classmates. After the 8th grade, Svetina was expelled from school for hooliganism. He began his studies at a music school, where he mastered the oboe. In the army, Mikhail fell into a military band. After serving, he graduated from college and became a certified musician.
Creative career
After studying, Svetin worked as a music teacher. Later, he decided to master acting and tried to get to the Shchukin school, to GITIS, but to no avail. In Moscow, Svetin was taken to the theater of Raikin Arkady (as an auxiliary staff), but was soon fired.
Mikhail worked in the theaters of Kemerovo, Kamyshin, and other cities. In that period, he came up with the pseudonym Svetin, on behalf of Svetlana. That was the daughter of the actor. And in 1983, he issued a new name officially, changing his passport.
In the mid-60s, Mikhail Semyonovich got into the theater of musical comedy in Kiev, and after 6 years he began to work in the Maly Drama Theater of Leningrad. In 1980, Fomenko Peter, artistic director of the comedy theater, invited the actor to the troupe. The most vivid roles of the actor were in the plays “Smoothie”, “Tale of the Arden Forest”, “Bathhouse”.
In 1974, Svetin played in the film "No Fluff, No Feather", "Agony." But the actor became famous after an episodic role in the movie "Afonya". In 1976, Svetin worked on the set of the film “12 Chairs” by Mark Zakharov. The actor became in demand in the movie, starring in several films every year.
