Supyan Abdullaev is a field commander of Chechen fighters, one of Doku Umarov’s close associates. Back in the 80s, he stood at the origins of the Islamic Renaissance party, then he began to actively promote the ideas of Wahhabism. He took part in two Chechen military campaigns.

Biography: early years
Supyan Minkailovich Abdullaev was born on November 8, 1956 in Kazakhstan. Chechen by nationality. His ancestors lived in the village of Khatuni, which is 57 km from Grozny, and belonged to the taip Tsadahara.
In the spring of 1944, parents were deported to Kazakhstan as part of the Lentil operation. Then more than half a million Chechens and Ingush were exiled to Central Asia. The authorities formally cited cooperation with the Nazis and anti-Soviet activities as the reasons for the forced relocation.
In the 60s the famous “thaw” came and the Caucasian peoples were allowed to return. The Abdullaev family came to their native lands. The story of forced deportation left its mark on the fate of Supyan. Subsequently, he will be a fierce opponent of the Russian authorities.
In 1972, Abdullaev graduated from school in his native village and enrolled in a pedagogical school. Then he continued his education at the Chechen-Ingush University. At the same time, he became a master of sports in freestyle wrestling.

After high school, Abdullaev worked as a physical instructor in several schools in his district. In parallel, he was trained by Alim (Islamic scholars) in Chechnya and Dagestan. Soon Abdullaev began to teach Islamic lessons in religious schools for children.
In the late 80s, together with active co-religionists, he created the Islamic Renaissance party. He later stood at the helm of the Ar-Risal Islamic Center in Grozny.
Political activity
After the collapse of the Union, Abdullaev began to directly participate in the political events of his native Chechnya. He opposed its entry into Russia.
In 1994, he participated in the storming of Grozny. He was part of a battle group that attacked the armed opposition opposing Dzhokhar Dudayev. In the same year, he became deputy commander of the Islamic Battalion. In 1996, Abdullaev commanded the militants during the next assault on Grozny, during which the FSB building and the house of the government of the republic were attacked.
After the end of the first Chechen campaign, then-President of Chechnya Aslan Maskhadov appointed him deputy head of the Ministry of State Security of the republic. As a former teacher, he was responsible for the educational work of the staff.
In 2004, Abdullaev became Minister of Finance of the Chechen Republic. At the same time, he took an active part in the second military campaign.

Abdullaev was the right hand of the separatist Doku Umarov. In 2007, he made Supyan vice president of Chechnya.
