Shirokova Alexandra Grigorievna was born in Moscow in 1918 in the family of an employee. Parents were able to instill in the girl a love of literature from an early age. In 1937, Alexandra received a full secondary education and entered the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute at the Literary Department. In 1943, a young specialist Alexander Shirokova begins work at the Department of Slavic Philology at Moscow State University. Her scientific research is the study of Czech and Slavic languages. Alexandra Grigoryevna becomes an assistant professor, and after a couple of years - professor of Moscow State University, as well as the head of the department of Slavic philology.
