In team sports, it is very important to establish mutual understanding between the players. For the trainer, this is one of the priority tasks. Similar problems are present in pair skating. Maxim Shabalin for a long time chose a suitable partner.
Starting conditions
In order for a child to succeed in an independent life, parents should direct their development in the right direction. Practice shows that this is not such a simple task, as it seems at first glance. With equal probability, you can guess with the choice, or you can make a mistake. Maxim Andreevich Shabalin got into the figure skating section when he was four years old. He wanted to play football or boxing, but the boy was not admitted for a little years. As the subsequent turn of events showed, the decision of the parents was correct.
The future world champion in figure skating was born on January 25, 1982 in an ordinary Soviet family. Parents lived in the famous city of Kuibyshev, which after 1991 began to be called Samara. The child grew up surrounded by attention and care. At that time, not only relatives and friends, but also state structures took care of the health of children. In the Sports Palace, nearest to the house, there were free sections for children. Maxim often had colds. To strengthen health and temper the body, the boy was recorded "for figure skating."
Road to the pedestal
At first, Maxim's skating was not inspired. He even skipped training for disrespectful reasons. But the insightful coach suggested that the boy do ice dancing. The pair dance and Shabalin found a partner. Regular work began, including physical training, practicing skating techniques and other mandatory exercises. After some time, the coaches noticed that the relationship with Shabalin did not work out together. And soon he refused to train with his partner. In the biography of the skater, it is briefly noted that he even left for Bulgaria to create a reliable couple. It did not work out and failed.
In 1999, Shabalin began to ride in tandem with Elena Khalyavina. Over the next three years, the pair rose from the third step of the podium to the first. However, this joint work stopped. Further, a sports career continued with Oksana Dominina. Russian skaters won bronze medals at the 2010 Olympics. After this victory, Shabalin announced his departure from the ice. He was involved in coaching. The honored master of sports was attracted several times to participate in the Balero, Ice and Fire and other similar events on the ice show.
