Georgy Dmitrievich Alekseev was a famous painter, sculptor, graphic artist.
Biography
George was born in April 1881 in the Moscow province, in the village of Venyukovo. In total, the family had 9 children.
When George was 12 years old, his father, an engraver, died. So that the family could somehow feed themselves, the mother decided to send her son to work in a factory in Moscow. Here he was identified as a laborer. The change of the boy lasted 12-14 hours.
Grigory Dmitrievich from childhood loved art. He decided to work and get an art education at the School of Painting of Architecture and Sculpture.
The young man was lucky. Famous artists became his teachers: Serov, Repin, Kasatkin, Korovin. Alekseev, while still a student of this institution, begins to participate in traveling exhibitions. The boy also studied at the sculptor. In 1914, he received a worthy education, the desired profession.
Creation
One of the first works of Alekseev G. D. was the painting "Burners". Here he captured the scene of a game once popular in the villages. The work turned out so successful that at the exhibition Alekseev was awarded a silver medal for it and was awarded a trip to Western Europe.
Georgy Dmitrievich is the son of his era, and revolutionary events could not pass him by. In 1907, he finishes work on the statue of the founder of scientific communism - Karl Marx. The authorities liked this sculpture so much that then several copies of this work were installed in different cities and in Moscow.
Alekseev made several more sculptures in which he depicted the work of builders, textile workers, metalworkers. He also has a sculpture called "Militias".
