Biography
Sergey Lukyanenko was born on April 11 in Kazakhstan, in the hospital of a small town in Karatau, Zhambyl region, in 1968, in a family of hereditary doctors. It is not surprising that the child of a psychiatrist and narcologist chose the same education for himself as his older brother Oleg, who became a cardiologist.
After graduating from school and receiving a well-deserved gold medal, Seryozha went to study in Alma-Ata, entered the medical university and received the specialty of a psychiatrist. And in 1996 he moved to the capital of Russia.
Writer career
From early childhood, Sergei read voraciously all the books that fell into his hands, and tried to write in his youth, during his student days. The first story of the writer was published in the magazine "Dawn". It was a small sketch called "Violation", written in 1987.
“Knights of the Forty Islands” - certainly one of Lukyanenko’s most fascinating novels, translated into 12 languages, was released in 1992 thanks to the publishing house Terra Fantastica. This incredibly subtle, dramatic science fiction with an amazing plot received the unique prize "Sword of Rumata" at the festival "Wanderer" - the writer was presented with a real sword, which he is still proud of.
Since then, the science fiction asset has already more than 35 novels, some of which are included in interesting cycles: “Deeptown”, “Line of Dreams” and others.
The Night Watch series turned into a film made by Bekmambetov and who became the box office leader during his debut. Since then, new parts have been added to this cycle, including the mass of works by fans, sometimes almost equal to Lukyanenko himself in originality and fascination.
Sergei has many books co-written with eminent prose writers of our time. His works describe not only the world of the future - the genres in which science fiction creates are quite diverse. Personal life
Lukyanenko is an exemplary family man and father of three children. The family has two sons and a daughter, Nadezhda, who was born in 2012. The writer saw his love, wife Sofia, while still a student. The girl studied at the same university as a psychologist. The writer's family lives in Moscow, Sergei collects mice figures and is crazy about his pets - Yorkshire terriers.
