Sergey Sokol is a Russian politician who led the Legislative Assembly of the Irkutsk Region in 2018. His career dates back to the late 1990s, and during this time the Falcon has established itself as an active and transparent politician for society.

Early biography pages
Sergey Mikhailovich Sokol was born in 1970 in the Ukrainian city of Sevastopol and was brought up in the family of an officer. His father managed to build a successful career as an international intelligence officer. In this regard, the family has repeatedly changed its place of residence. So the childhood of the future politician passed in Cuba, and in 1987 he successfully graduated from high school at the embassy in this Republic.
Later, Sokol moved to Russia, where he became a student of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. The training took place at the eastern branch of the faculty of interethnic relations. During his higher education, Sergey established himself as an incredibly hardworking student, and by the time he received his diploma in 1992, he already had a Ph.D. in political sciences, and also spoke fluent English, Spanish, and even Sinhala.
Career development
Immediately after graduating from the university, Sergey Sokol took up the post of referent-secretary of the Russian Embassy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ecuador and worked in this position until 1995. Over the next two years, he was already assigned the duties of Director General for Economic Affairs at the Moscow office of the Russian-German enterprise Neftegazgtekhnologiya.
In 1997, Sokol became the chief deputy director of finance of the Norilskgazprom concern and soon transferred to the post of already general director of the enterprise. At this point, he had established firm democratic political views, and he firmly decided to connect his future life with politics. At the end of the 90s, Sergei Mikhailovich was elected to the Taimyr District Duma.
Political activity
The falcon remained the current deputy of the district Duma until 2002. In early 2000, he also led the Norilsk election headquarters of Vladimir Putin during the presidential election. As a result of the campaign, about 80% of the inhabitants of Norilsk and the surrounding settlements voted for Putin.
In 2002, Sokol received the post of deputy governor of the Krasnoyarsk region, Alexander Khloponin. In addition, in the territory entrusted to the governor, he was entrusted with the duties of supervising the activities of such major complexes as:

- communication;
- forest and others
Sokol was also involved in the regulation of tariffs for heat and electric resources, and carried out financial rehabilitation of key enterprises. Since 2004, the politician has already led the apparatus of the Administration Council of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
One of the most important moments in Sokol’s career occurred in April 2005, when he organized and conducted a referendum to unite such subjects of the Russian Federation as:
- Krasnoyarsk region;
- Evenk Autonomous Okrug;
- Taimyr Autonomous Okrug.
After the successful completion of the referendum in 2006, the politician participated in the drafting of the Charter of the united entity, and a year later became deputy governor of the “renewed” Krasnoyarsk Territory. In the same period, he became one of the main candidates for the post of governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory, the Republic of Altai or the Republic of Tuva. His activity in the political arena was actively supported by President Vladimir Putin.
The further political career of Sergey Sokol continued in the Irkutsk region. In the 2008-2009s, he retained the post of first deputy head of the region and even for some time served as governor. During this period, Sokol’s extensive knowledge of the economy was in demand: in the 2010-2011 he worked as an adviser to the director of the national enterprise Rostekhnologii, for the next four years served as general director of RT-Chemcomposite and then headed his board of directors, and in 2015 The year was led by OPK OBORONPROM.
Socio-political activity continued. Sergei Sokol remained an active member of the United Russia party and in 2016, by a wide margin, he won her primaries in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. With its help, a successful campaign was held to compile a party list of the subject in the State Duma of the Russian Federation. In 2018, Sokol headed the headquarters of Rostec and participated in the election campaign for the next presidential election. In September of the same year, he received the post of chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the next convocation in the Irkutsk region, and also entered the Board of Trustees at MGIMO-Russian Foreign Ministry.
