Biography of Sergei Vladimirovich Obraztsov
The future master of puppet theater and pop was born on July 5 (June 22 according to the old style) in 1901, in Moscow, in a family of hereditary noblemen. At the time of the birth of the boy, his father served as an engineer on the railway, and later became a member of the USSR Academy of Sciences. The mother of little Seryozha was a teacher. In addition to him, there was another child in the family - the youngest son Boris.
What he wants to become, Sergey decided in his youth when his mother brought a doll to her house, putting on her arm. Playing with her so fascinated the boy that it served as a subject of heated debate, and sometimes even became the reason for punishing his son.
Nevertheless, Sergey managed to defend his position, after the gymnasium he entered the Higher Art and Theater Studio, on a painting course. He knew that it was art that would become his vocation, and he was not mistaken in that. Moreover, it was the dolls that brought him his first income. While still in high school, the boy was fond of their manufacture. His work was bought with pleasure by friends of the family, and then by their friends.
The work of Sergei Obraztsov
In 1922, Sergey Vladimirovich became a member of the troupe of the Moscow Art Theater. There he served 8 years, then moved to the Moscow Art Theater-2, where he was entrusted with more complex, distinctive roles. But his main vocation and passion remained dolls. He began performing with them before he entered the theater as an actor in 1920.
A few years later, all of Moscow already spoke of him as a puppeteer-parody. Sharp, satirical numbers, crushing vulgarity, arrogance and other vices of society, were to the liking of many. At the performance of Sergei Obraztsov with dolls, the audience "flowed like a river."
In 1931, Sergey Vladimirovich obtained permission from the authorities to open his own theater. So the Central Puppet Theater and the whole art direction appeared. He supervised his offspring until his death, until 1992.
In the creative piggy bank of Obraztsov and his theater there are more than 70 puppet shows for spectators of different ages. Since 1935, Sergey Vladimirovich began to share his talent and skills with young actors - he taught at GITIS. In 1976, he headed the International Union of Puppeteers.
Filmography and directorial work of Sergei Vladimirovich Obraztsov
This unique person, talent "with a capital letter" was engaged not only in his theater and his dolls. As a director, he directed more than 20 documentary projects and films, including 1 animated film. For three of them, he himself wrote the scripts - "Heavenly Creation", "Extraordinary Concert", "Our Chukokkala". In the film “Heavenly Creation, ” Samples himself read the author’s voice-over text.
Sergei Vladimirovich had a huge collection of exotic dolls. We can safely say that they were for him the closest "people." He wrote about 10 books about them, which were published both in the USSR and abroad.
Samples is the creator of the author's technique of working with dolls. It was he who invented the system thanks to which the puppeteer actor became not just a faceless participant in the process, but his full-fledged link. “According to Obraztsov, ” new generations of his followers have studied and are now learning.
