Legendary guitarist who became famous after a concert in Woodstock. His compositions and manner of playing the guitar had a great influence on contemporary popular and jazz music.
Biography
Carlos began teaching music at the age of five. His father, a professional violinist, noting the boy’s talent, decided to independently teach him musical literacy.
When the boy turned 8, the family moved to Tijuana. There Carlos first heard rock and roll. Energetic music won his heart. He asked his parents to buy him a guitar, the request was fulfilled. Having quickly mastered the instrument, Carlos began to play, imitating his idols: BB King, Lee Hooker and other popular guitarists.
A few years later, Carlos was invited to play in the group TJ'S. On stage, he stood out for his unusually vibrant play and eccentric behavior. Performing on stage allowed the young musician to make good money, he gave part of the money to his parents.
Career
After graduation, Santana creates the Santana Blues Band. The group tours a lot, performs both in small pubs and in serious music clubs. In 1969, he released his first recording, The Live Adventures Of Al Kooper And Michael Bloomfield.
In the same year, the group performs at the famous Woodstock Music Festival. The audience with incredible enthusiasm accepted the song "Soul Sacrifice". In November, the musician's first album, entitled "Santana", was released.
The 1970 release of his second album was a sensation. The album immediately after the release entered the top ten most respected American charts. The composition from this album, Black Magic Woman, became the musician's calling card.
In 1971, two members left the team, they explained their departure by disagreeing with the dominant behavior of Carlos.
In 1981, the record "Zebop!" Was released, received with enthusiasm by critics and led the charts. In the eighties, Santana tours a lot, participates in music festivals. Records several albums that did not have much success.
In the nineties and two thousandths continues to record albums and tour, but his work is not very interested in the broad masses.
In 2014, he wrote and published his memoirs, a book called "The Universal Tone: Bringing My Story to Light".
In 2017, his album was released, recorded with Isley Brothers under the name The Power of Peace.
