Self-justification is the sweet vice of our lives. Man is a moral being who is constantly tormented by the question: "To whom should I give the burden of my sins"? Most often, parents, “spoiled” genes, stars, according to which fate is predicted, or the era in which we are raised, fall under the distribution. Parents, in most cases, are confident in the integrity of their children, blaming friends and society, thereby weighing on the fate of their offspring.
Self-justification is an ancient sin
Self-justification is one of the most ancient sins. Adam made it first while still in the Garden of Eden. He shifted his responsibility to Eve, and then to God himself. Since then, the human race has constantly committed this sin. Adam, therefore, laid a model of behavior in each person. And to correct the situation, a new Adam (Christ) comes to Earth. As a result, everything changes in life with Christ, but the final result will depend on the desire of each individual person.
Self-justification in the modern world
Modern man is crafty. He is always trying to make excuses. Unfortunately, Orthodoxy also turns into a kind of excuse factor. If a church person is not called to account and find out the reason for this or that act, he can name various reasons that prompted him to do so. The Christian will say briefly: "The demon has beguiled."
A similar example, but already on the scale of an entire country, could be found in pre-revolutionary times. Shortly before this event, prostitution was legalized. There were legalized houses of tolerance, and the women who worked there had to receive communion, confession, and make notes of the priest about it every year. They had no right to work in posts and on major church holidays. It turns out people did not get rid of sin, but tried to combine the incompatible. In this case, sin and Orthodoxy, unwittingly making excuses that they are not able to overcome this misfortune. All this became one of the reasons for the 1917 revolution.
Suvorov, being an Orthodox man, planned his military operations very carefully: he strengthened the defensive lines, placed military force in a special way, and then said: “What I could, I did everything, but now let it be, as God willing”. It is very important that Christians of the 21st century do not give a reason to those who seek it, that they do not turn Christianity into the go-ahead and do not make it a factor of self-justification. A person needs to work out all his resources, give himself up to everything that he does, and then fully rely on the will of God.
