From the biography of Demis Russos
The future singer was born on June 15, 1946 in the Egyptian city of Alexandria. In addition to him, there was another son in the family. During the Suez crisis, the family moved to Greece, the homeland of their ancestors. Demis mother was a dancer. My father worked as an engineer, but was also close to creativity - he played the guitar superbly.
Children in such a creative family did not spend time on an in-depth study of the exact sciences. From childhood, they preferred to develop their creativity. Demis from a young age was distinguished by a sharp mind and talents. He sang beautifully. Therefore, the parents decided to identify him in the church choir. Here he honed his performing skills for five years. Demis learned to play the organ, trumpet and double bass, studied the theory of music.
Demis Russos: the path to the musical Olympus
In 1963, fate brought Demis with talented musicians. So a musical group was born, where Russos got the role of vocalist. The very first musical compositions brought fame to the collective. However, in 1968, a military coup broke out in Greece. The music team, in which Demis took part, moved to Paris. Soon all of France spoke of young musicians.
The popularity of the group grew rapidly. But Russos wanted something more. He leaves the creative team, choosing a solo career. The first solo disc of the singer was released in 1971. Then a few more albums appeared. A video was shot on one of the tracks.
Two years later, Demis began to travel with concerts around the world. Gradually, the work of Russos firmly entrenched in the top lines of musical ratings. Three compositions of the singer took place in the top ten best albums in the UK.
In 1987, Roussos interrupted a series of trips around the world and returned to Greece. Here he worked hard on the album, which was supposed to include digital versions of his best compositions.
